New this year: the workshop will be held during a weekend in mid-October! After the performance of Le Cri du monde on September 26 and 27 at Danse Danse (Place des Arts, Montreal), COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD will offer a repertoire workshop based on this work, which represents an exhilarating technical challenge.
Created by Marie Chouinard in 2000, Le Cri du monde is a group work on the theme of bodily fragmentation. The performers throw themselves into an ecstatic dance, an organized chaos of forces and tensions, in which the entire architecture of the body is unceasingly constructed and deconstructed.
The physically demanding nature of this choreography, which engages the body to the limit of its abilities, urges dancers to express their animality and at the same time to exercise acutely honed technical performance skills.
This workshop is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the universe of Le Cri du monde, to learn the choreographic systems and to master the rigorous and instinctual language of COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD.
Teaching will be provided by the dancers from the COMPAGNIE who have performed Le Cri du monde.
Optional early bird classes (meditation, body awareness via breath and sound), led by Linda Rabin, will be held each morning before the classes begin.
