Sung in Latin, Bach's work for choir, five vocal soloists, and orchestra is imbued with the divine. It is the Virgin who speaks, and her voice is powerful and exultant. The woman, newly pregnant, addresses us; she is blissful, sublimely fulfilled. In her gaze, the world is freed from all burdens. Marie Chouinard choreographs the arias of MAGNIFICAT through large group movements, but also trios, duets, and solos, offering 35 minutes of grace.
